WORLD BAMBOO DAY CELEBRATION IN TRIPURA, INDIA
 

Forest Department of Tripura is organizing various programs in Tripura state on 18th of September 2011 on the eve of world bamboo day.

In this event, we are conducting :

 

1) Plantation of rare bamboo plants in various divisions of forest department

 

2) Free distribution of Tissue culture developed bamboo plants to the local people.

 

3) Awareness program for cultivation of bamboo plants.

PUNARNABA

  Local Name : PUNARNABA Scientific Name : Boerhavia diffusa 

Family : Amaranthaceae (Nyctaginaceae)

 Plant Parts : Whole Plant Medicinal Uses : Punarnava is diuretic, aphrodisiac, diaphoretic, emetic, expectorant, febrifuge and laxztive, useful in nephrotic syndrome, chronic oedema and liver disorders. It is also used for asthma, anaemia, inflammations, leucorrhoea, ophthalmia, myalgia, constipation, cough, rheumatic and gouty complains, kalazar, chronic peritonial conditions and heart dieases. 

 

PODINA

  Local Name : PODINA Scientific Name : Mentha arvensis / Mentha spicata 

Family : Lamiaceae (Libiatae)

 Plant Parts : Leaves. Medicinal Uses : It is used as carminative. The dried tops are used as a stimulant and to prevent vomitting. Tea made from this plant is used to treat neuralgia, indigestion and diarrhoea and also to wash sores. Tea made from leaves with cinnamon is prescribed to expectant mother to hasten child birth.

  Local Name : GANDHURI Scientific Name : Homalomena aromatica 

Family : Araceae

 Plant Parts : Rhizome. Medicinal Uses : Stimulant, Skin disease.
